Emily Cain was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2004 at age 24 and was elected to be the Democratic House Caucus leader for the 125th Legislature. She is the youngest female legislator to lead the minority party in the Maine House. Emily served as the House Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs, leading the charge to balance strong bipartisan budgets, as well as Chair of the Joint Select Committee on Research, Economic Development, and the Innovation Economy. When not in the legislature, Rep. Cain works part-time as Coordinator of Advancement in the Honors College at UMaine.
