Pro-Growth Progressive Idea: Creating the Sustainable Transportation Advisory Committee to spur growth by better connecting neighborhoods through public transportation

Kristin Gisleson Palmer was elected to the New Orleans City Council in 2010.  Kristin is a non-profit executive with 20 years experience in neighborhood revitalization, financial management, economic development and grass roots organizing. As the Executive Director of Rebuilding Together New Orleans, Kristin put over 400 displaced residents back into their homes, developed a $6 million dollar annual rebuilding operation and leveraged over $7 million in public funding to create a model for creating long-term sustainability in the New Orleans community post-Hurricane Katrina.

Kristin is the founder and former President of Confetti Kids, Inc., a nonprofit that aims to improve the quality of life of children residing in Algiers Point through the renovation of parks and playgrounds. She is also the founding board member of Evacuteer.org, an organization that evacuated approximately 18,000 residents during Hurricane Gustav.

Kristin has been honored with many awards, including the CityBusiness Women of the Year Award in 2007.
