Ruben Gallego is the son of two immigrants and was the first in his family to attend college.  He currently serves as the State Representative for District 16, where he was elected in 2010.  Prior to serving in office, Ruben was elected as the Vice Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party and served as a State Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

To fulfill his call to duty and country, Ruben joined the Marine Corps after college.  He served one tour in Iraq with Lima 3/25 and was involved in some of the hardest combat of the Iraq War.  He still remains close to his fellow Marines and is involved in many Veteran Causes.  Ruben was also named one of the 40 under 40 most influential leaders by both the Phoenix Business Journal and Chicanos Por La Causa Hispanic.
