Pro-Growth Progressive Idea: Spurring economic growth by tapping the potential of clean energy technology through the Oregon Innovation Council
As State Representative, Tobias Read has fought to bring a long term focus to Oregon’s government. In 2009, Tobias played a key role in helping the legislature protect investments in education, make improvements in healthcare access and affordability and create new jobs throughout the state. Tobias led efforts to jumpstart Oregon’s growing solar energy industry and to pass landmark legislation to finance energy efficiency projects that create jobs and reduce greenhouse gas pollution. Tobias remains an ex-officio member of the Oregon Innovation Council and was elected as the House Democratic Whip.
Before serving as State Representative, Tobias was an aide to former State Rep. Bryan Johnston and Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. Tobias currently works as a product developer of kids’ footwear for Nike and previously worked as a development officer for Willamette University building partnerships with business and community leaders.
