Devan Allen

Former County Commissioner | Tarrant County, TX

Devan Allen is a true Texas success story — breaking the cycle of poverty, she sought out mentors from extended family and teachers, and put herself through college to forge a career devoted to public service. Elected to the Tarrant County Commissioners’ Court in 2018, where she was the only female commissioner, and the first Democrat elected to Precinct 2, at the time of her election. During her campaign she proved to be a candidate with broad appeal, that a diverse group of voters could get behind. Devan prioritized countering growing economic segregation, making smart investments in public transportation and health care, and getting more people involved in the community’s planning and decisions.

Before becoming a county commissioner, Devan worked extensively in public service at the municipal and state levels having served as District Director in both the Texas Senate and House, as a Council Aid for a Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem and as Campaign Manager. She is a devoted public servant, community volunteer and advocate, having served on a number of boards and commissions and with a host of non-profit organizations including: Day Resource Center, Chair of the Arlington Community Relations Commission, inspirED Advisory Committee, New Leaders Council Advisory Board, Women Inspiring Philanthropy, and is a founding member of BRIDGE Young Professionals. Devan also works as the Founder and Principal of Allen Realty Advisors, where she opens doors for those pursuing business investments or the dream of homeownership.
