Ciara McDavis

Fellow

Ciara McDavis works at the NewDEAL as a 2024 Spring Fellow. She supports the team by researching and writing about the Leaders’ policy efforts and is also supporting the organization’s broadband and democracy efforts.

Originally from Ontario, California, Ciara is currently working on earning a dual degree in Legal Studies and Sociology, along with a minor degree in Political Science from the University of California- Santa Cruz. Ciara is currently a part of the UC Washington Center (UCDC) program, where spends a semester working in Washington, D.C., to gain political experience.

Previously, Ciara worked with the public defender's office as an investigative intern and as a social working intern. In these roles, Ciara contributed to writing social histories, collecting biographical histories of childhood, character witness statements, and creating strategies for secure housing and translation for her clients. Ciara has experience with leadership skills and with working with others. She hopes to attend law school and to become a human rights lawyer focused on creating equitable access to opportunities and resources.
