Helen Dehnert

Fellow

Helen Dehnert joined the NewDEAL as a Summer 2025 Fellow. She is currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in United States History and minors in Media and Journalism and Conflict Management.

During her time in school, Helen has been deeply engaged in her community, volunteering with the Refugee Community Partnership to support immigrant families as they navigate the challenges of resettlement in the United States. Academically, she has served as a research assistant, contributing to the analysis of Revolutionary War-era texts, and her independent research on the shifting portrayals of Muslim women from the Crusades through the colonial period was recently published in the UNC Journal for Undergraduate Research. Helen is excited to bring her passion and experience to NewDEAL as she works toward her long-term goal of a career in public policy.
