Barnes Wins Wisconsin Senate Nomination

On Tuesday, longtime NewDEAL Leader Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes won his state’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, setting up a November showdown against GOP incumbent Ron Johnson. With his primary win, Lt. Gov. Barnes becomes the second NewDEAL Leader to be on the ballot for Senate and, if he wins, would become Wisconsin’s first Black Senator and only the second senator born in the 1980s. Barnes has run a campaign focused on bringing jobs to his state and rebuilding Wisconsin’s middle class while boosting climate resiliency and expanding broadband. Barnes’ election in November holds extra importance for Democrats nationally as they fight to keep control of the Senate, which is currently tied 50-50. Read more about how Lt. Gov. Barnes has run a "campaign squarely centered on jobs and rebuilding the middle class."
