Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels Introduces Childcare Incentive Plan for Employers
Idea Category: Child Care
To close child care gaps and increase workforce participation, Alabama House Minority Leader and NewDEAL Leader Anthony Daniels has championed a tax credit program to incentivize employers to provide child care for employees earning under $80,000. The program offers credits of up to $600,000 per eligible company for full reimbursement. This bipartisan law will begin in 2025, and also includes tax credits and grants for child care providers to address affordability and improve the quality of care. “This is one of the many pieces of legislation that has really supported increasing our workforce participation rate by providing incentives for families that are reentering the workforce, mothers that are re-entering the workforce, but being able to have childcare and the opportunity for child care on-site while partnering with a provider,” Daniels said.
