Tracking the Impact Across America

Signed into law in 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act helped stave off a second COVID recession and has been instrumental in aiding cities and states to build back stronger and more resilient. 

From making housing and childcare more affordable to efforts supporting workforce training, small business recovery, and more, NewDEAL is closely tracking the successful implementation of the American Rescue Plan, especially the $350 billion in state and local recovery funds. On this page, you’ll find:

These three reports feature more than 40 NewDEAL Leaders representing 29 states, highlighting innovative ideas, with the most investments going to address housing affordability, expand child care access, and create jobs and grow the economy.

The American Rescue Plan Reports – Impact in the States Reports

Our initial report, released on the first anniversary of the signing of the American Rescue Plan Act, highlights  NewDEAL Leaders’ early successes. The addendum, released six months after the original report, provides updates on some of the cases from the first report, and provides even more examples of innovative and successful uses of ARPA funding to spur recovery and equitable growth across our nation.

Our third report, released on ARPA’s two year anniversary, provides snapshots of the law’s continued progress, showing how these investments are making tangible, long-lasting impact. 

The final report, released on the three year anniversary of the law, dives deep into selected case studies from communities across the nation to gain a holistic view of the impacts of these federal funds on the lives of real people. These success stories show what can happen when government works to solve problems.
