Alabama Representative Phillip Ensler’s bill banning the use of Glock switches earned bipartisan support in the legislature and was signed into law by Governor Kay Ivey this week. After three years of introducing similar legislation and an uptick in gun violence across the state, Ensler recruited law enforcement officers to speak in support of the bill, pushing beyond party lines to keep communities safe. “When you work across the aisle, when you educate people, there is hope,” he said. “There is an opportunity to try to do something meaningful.”
