Connecticut State Senator James Maroney championed a comprehensive bill that strengthens protections for Connecticut consumers in five key areas. The law, which includes provisions going into effect next week: expands the state’s ability to investigate price gouging; requires companies to clearly disclose total costs and give notice before automatic renewals; ensures the right to repair electronics; and mandates transparency for internet-connected devices that record users. “Connecticut is stepping up to protect families from predatory business practices, whether it’s microphones in household appliances, recording their conversations or surprise junk fees inflating their bills,” Maroney said.
