Georgia Representative Tanya Miller is championing the Overtime Income Tax Exemption Act, allowing workers to exempt up to $10,000 of overtime wages from their state income tax. Miller characterized the legislation as a measure “valuing hard work, supporting families and building an economy for all Georgians.” The proposal mirrors a successful program from fellow NewDEALer Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels to help working families by exempting hourly employees from paying income taxes on overtime work.
