Nebraska Mayor Gaylor Baird and City Councilmember Tom Beckius Launch “Workforce Week”

Idea Category: Creating Jobs, Jobs Training, Workforce

Nebraska Mayor Gaylor Baird and City Councilmember Tom Beckius launched “Workforce Week,” sponsoring events highlighting the investments the city has made into developing and expanding its workforce using American Rescue Plan Act funds. Since 2021, city leaders have helped over 1,400 community members to gain job skills, earn new credentials, and start careers. One such investment went to the Lincoln Manufacturing Council, which has helped more than 200 workers earn credentials and secure jobs. “The City of Lincoln and our partners are committed to building a workforce that provides opportunity and financial security for all,” said Gaylor Baird. “When we invest in people, we strengthen businesses, grow our economy, and make Lincoln a place where everyone can afford to take care of themselves and their families as, together, we grow the great life.”
