Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton’s Comprehensive Election Administration Bill Advances
Idea Category: Election Security
Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton successfully advanced her comprehensive election administration bill out of the house, which aims to enhance both the security and accessibility of elections. Her bill would allow counties to pre-canvass mail-in ballots, help voters to “cure” their ballots by fixing mistakes, and also implement new penalties and fines for election interference. It also creates more opportunities for voter participation, allows for in-person early voting up to 11 days before an election, and sets standards for drop boxes in all 67 counties. “House Bill 1396 responds to the needs of our most essential election stakeholders and would make all of our elections free, fair, efficient, uniform, safe and secure,” said McClinton.
