Providence Mayor Brett Smiley Cut the Ribbon on the City’s New and Improved India Point Park
Idea Category: Climate Change, Environment
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley cut the ribbon on the city’s new and improved India Point Park – a project focused on shoreline restoration and expanding community access to green space. These renovations mark a major milestone in the mayor’s commitments to bolster Providence’s climate resilience efforts and ensure that every neighbor is within a 10 minute walk to a park or greenspace. Providence plans to cut the ribbon on fourteen more park renovation projects by the end of the summer. “As we continue to invest in Providence’s parks and open spaces, we’re prioritizing projects that will improve access and usability while helping our city adapt to the impacts of climate change,” Smiley said. “These improvements at India Point Park are part of a larger vision to create a resilient, world-class waterfront that serves our residents today and protects our shoreline for generations to come.”
