Providence Mayor Brett Smiley Updates the city’s PVD311 Service Residents to Easily Report Issues to the City
Idea Category: Government Efficiency, Smart Government
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley has updated the city’s PVD311 service for the first time since 2016, allowing residents to easily report issues to the city and create electronic work orders for maintenance staff. The update consolidates incoming requests to a single work order system and is designed to expedite the delivery of city services and ensure that no work orders fall through the cracks. One member of Mayor Smiley’s team has likened the update to moving from a flip phone to a smart phone. "Instead of the old system where you would submit a pothole request, it would actually then literally turn into an email that would get emailed to someone, that someone would then need to read and type it into a different system in order to send the system out," Smiley said. "Now it's going to go seamlessly, electronically."
