Richland County Council Chair Jesica Mackey unveiled plans for a new workforce development center, established in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Midlands Technical College, and the readySC job training program. The center will serve as the site for Scout Motors’ preemployment training program – a result of the county’s work to draw more employers to the region to create thousands of jobs. “Preparing Richland County residents for the jobs of tomorrow is a top priority,” Mackey said. “This facility will create career pathways and attract businesses.”
