Dani Isaacsohn

Representative, Cincinnati, OH

From his first day in the Statehouse, Representative Dani Isaacsohn has worked to better the lives of his constituents in the 24th District and Ohioans all across the state. Thanks to his upbringing and his experience working on the ground in our communities, Dani has come to believe we can only solve deep challenges and pursue meaningful change through collaboration, shared success, and a sense of direction. Dani has led with these values, relying on his energy, vision, and the relationships he’s cultivated to secure wins for his constituents — and now as the House Minority Leader, he’ll continue to lead Ohio toward a brighter future.

As the son of immigrants whose grandfather was on one of the last boats out of Hitler’s Europe, Dani is deeply grateful for the opportunities this country and this city have given his family. He is committed to extending those opportunities to everyone in the state, particularly to his fellow Ohioans who have long been denied too much opportunity.

Dani’s work has always focused on the issues that matter most to our day-to-day lives, from childcare and low-wage employment to affordable housing and public transportation. After moving back to Cincinnati following his work on the 2016 presidential election, Dani saw the gap that existed between people in power and the communities they serve and decided to create Cohear — a small business based on the simple idea that to make good policy, we have to listen to the wisdom of lived experience.

Dani carried these values with him to the Statehouse, relying on his experience in the community to find solutions to the issues that keep families up at night. In his first term, Dani took the lead on negotiating a historic public school funding increase for Ohio students. He fought to reduce property taxes for senior citizens and worked to address our gun violence crisis to make our communities safer. In his second term, Dani was elected to serve as House Minority Leader in the legislature by his fellow House Democrats.

Dani believes in people — because when you focus on what matters, the people will get it right every time. Now serving as the leader of Ohio House Democrats, Dani is continuing the fight to improve public schools, expand access to affordable childcare, make homeownership more attainable, and make our justice system fairer for everyone.
