Eleni Kavros DeGraw

Representative | Avon, CT

State Representative Eleni Kavros DeGraw was elected in November 2020 to represent the 17th District in Avon and Canton. She is currently in her third term. In her first term, she passed the phase-out of the personal income tax on Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), a Workforce Disability Pipeline bill, and a Veterans Municipal Property Tax Credit bill. In her second term, she passed Connecticut’s first Student Loan Debt Relief bill and the Purple Alert System legislation to aid families with missing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Eleni also led passage of the first-in-the-nation legislation to provide sexual assault model policy for law enforcement based on a case from her district.

She is the House Chairwoman of the Planning and Development Committee where she is focusing her passion for housing on smart zoning legislation. Eleni also serves as a member of the Public Health and Appropriations Committees. She is co-chairwoman of the Appropriations subcommittee on Conservation and Development. Eleni also serves as co-chair of the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus and co-chair of the Feeding Connecticut Caucus.
