Laura started her career in Great Falls, Montana, serving as one of the state’s youngest Assistant United States Attorneys. She prosecuted more than 100 crimes in Montana, ranging from murders and assaults to fraud and drug crimes. Laura worked closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement, securing convictions that protect the public and ensure that victims have the opportunity to be heard. Laura went on to lead the state’s largest agency, the Department of Public Health and Human Services, as its Deputy Director. Laura spearheaded work to prioritize early childhood and family economic stability. Laura’s First Years Initiative received national recognition for its strategic approach to supporting Montana’s youngest kids.
