Mia McLeod began her career working for those who lacked a voice. While working for Attorney General Condon, Mia launched a statewide program to develop multidisciplinary protocols and curricula for use by law enforcement in preventing violence against women. These protocols were adopted and are still in use today, keeping women throughout South Carolina safe from domestic violence and other forms of harm.
After serving as Governor Hodges’ Director for the State Office of Victim Assistance, Mia left state government in 2002 to start McLeod Butler Communications, LLC. This public affairs consulting firm, which offers a wide array of services ranging from governmental relations to public relations, has given her invaluable insight into the needs of small business owners around South Carolina. She also serves on the state board of directors for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.
