Mike Pieciak is a proud Vermonter and Vermont’s 31st Treasurer. Raised in Brattleboro, Mike was inspired by his parents’ commitment to service—his father, a small business owner who volunteered throughout the community, and his mother, who founded St. Brigid’s Soup Kitchen, which continues to serve Vermonters today. They instilled in him the belief that Vermonters should always look after one another, a principle that has guided his career in public service.

As Treasurer, Mike has focused on making Vermont more affordable by expanding retirement security, investing in housing, and tackling the rising cost of healthcare. During his first term, he led the creation of Vermont Saves, a free public retirement program that has expanded access to retirement savings for tens of thousands of working Vermonters. He also expanded the 10% in Vermont program to invest more than $125 million in housing, supporting over 1,700 homes across the state.

Mike also championed legislation to eliminate up to $100 million in medical debt for working and middle-class Vermonters, a proposal that passed the Legislature unanimously and is being implemented by the Treasurer’s Office. Most recently, he advanced a bipartisan proposal to lower prescription drug costs for Vermonters. Following the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigrant communities, Mike launched the Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund, raising $1 million to ensure no Vermonter faces immigration court without a lawyer by their side.
