Omari Crawford
Representative, DeKalb County, GA
Representative Omari Crawford serves Georgia’s 89th House District in DeKalb County and has built a distinguished career dedicated to public service, advocacy, and leadership. A licensed attorney, Omari’s legal experience includes civil rights litigation and service as a Senior County Attorney for DeKalb County, where he defended the County in legal proceedings and advised elected officials and government departments on complex legal matters. He currently practices real estate and business law with Williams Teusink, LLC in Decatur, Georgia. In recognition of his professional accomplishments and leadership, Omari was named an “On the Rise in Georgia” honoree at the 2026 Southeastern Legal Awards.
In the Georgia General Assembly, Omari was recognized by the Center for Effective Lawmaking as one of Georgia’s Top 10 Most Effective Lawmakers for his ability to navigate complex policy issues and successfully advance legislation. His legislative work has focused on criminal justice reform, public safety, mental health, and reducing healthcare disparities. During the 2026 legislative session, he authored and passed Georgia’s first comprehensive sickle cell legislation, requiring the Department of Community Health to conduct annual reviews of Medicaid coverage for sickle cell treatments to help address longstanding gaps in care. Omari continues to champion policies that expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and improve the lives of Georgians across the state. Outside of public service, he is pursuing a personal mission to complete a half marathon in all 50 states in honor of his mother’s legacy.
