Rebecca Sanin is the Suffolk County Legislator representing New York’s 16th Legislative District and a nationally recognized leader at the intersection of public policy, human services, and community innovation. Throughout her career, she has championed solutions that strengthen families, expand opportunity, and build healthier, more equitable communities. Prior to elected office, Rebecca served as Assistant Deputy County Executive for Suffolk County under County Executive Steve Bellone, where she led initiatives spanning constituent services, workforce development, government innovation, and disaster recovery following Superstorm Sandy.

Rebecca most recently served as President and CEO of the Health & Welfare Council of Long Island, one of the region’s largest nonprofit membership organizations representing more than 300 agencies. In that role, she led Long Island’s nonprofit sector through the COVID-19 pandemic and directed the region’s successful 2020 Census campaign. A lifelong learner and advocate for children and families, Rebecca holds a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. Known for bringing people together to solve complex challenges, Rebecca is committed to building innovative systems that ensure every person—regardless of zip code—has the opportunity to thrive.
