Florida State Representative Christine Hunschofsky Spearheads Law Requiring Flood Disclosures in Rental Agreements
Idea Category: Housing, Transparency
Florida State Representative Christine Hunschofsky spearheaded efforts to guarantee flood disclosures in rental agreements. Lawmakers voted unanimously for the measure to give tenants important information about flood risk and insurance needs before signing a lease, building off of her other efforts to mandate flood risk disclosures in property sales. “This is important for many reasons. But I think one of the most important parts of this is there’s a disclaimer in there to let people know that flood insurance is not usually part of property insurance, so that purchasers and people who are renting apartments are aware of that,” Hunschofsky said before the House floor vote.
