Nevada Treasurer Zach Conine Launches Program to Address Healthcare Shortages in Rural Communities
Idea Category: Healthcare, Student Loans
The State of Nevada launched the Health Equity and Loan Assistance Program (HEAL) to address healthcare shortages in rural and underserved communities. Made possible as a result of legislation sponsored by Treasurer Zach Conine, the program offers up to $120,000 in student loan repayment to eligible healthcare providers across 18 fields who commit to practicing in these communities for at least five years. “After traveling the entire State after the COVID-19 pandemic, it became abundantly clear that we need to be doing everything we can to bring healthcare professionals to our most underserved communities,” said Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine. “The Nevada HEAL Program will be a critical component to ensuring we can attract the providers we need to increase access to care for residents across the State.”
