San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan celebrated the launch of the My First Place program, an affordable housing solution for transition-aged foster youth. This public-private partnership program provides participants with a below-market-rate apartment, as well as a full range of support, including regular meetings with a youth advocate and bi-weekly meetings to explore educational and employment opportunities. "If we can intervene earlier and give people some stability and an opportunity to really establish a life for themselves and find a sustainable path in our world," said Mahan.
