Chris Clark is a City Council Member and former Mayor of Mountain View, California, a hub of innovation in Silicon Valley.
First elected to the City Council in 2012 and appointed Mayor by his colleagues in 2014, Chris made history as the city’s youngest Mayor and City Council Member. He led Mountain View through a period of transformative growth, during which the city expanded affordable housing, launched major infrastructure projects, enhanced public safety, and prioritized environmental sustainability. Chris was elected again in 2024 after stepping back for 4 years due to term limits.
Chris’s commitment to service began early, growing up on a farm in rural Illinois and serving as a Page for the U.S. House of Representatives before attending Stanford University. In addition to his public service, Chris held executive roles at OpenAI from 2016 to 2024, where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company. He continues to contribute to innovative social initiatives as part of OpenResearch, a nonprofit focused on guaranteed income research.
