State Senator Christine Cohen was elected in 2018 to serve Connecticut’s 12th District. One of her public policy passions is protecting the environment and she made great strides in this regard as Senate chair of the Connecticut General Assembly’s Environment Committee from 2019-2022. Now as Senate chair of the legislature’s Transportation Committee, she has focused her energy on roadway safety, multi-modal transport and enhanced connectivity.

As a small business owner herself, Senator Cohen has long been an advocate for small business and economic growth. Other areas of policy focus include gun safety legislation, affordable healthcare and mental health supports, awareness and access.

In addition to chairing the Transportation Committee, Senator Cohen serves as Senate Vice Chair of the Banking Committee and is a member of the Children’s, General Law and Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committees. She is co-chair of the legislature’s Bioscience Caucus, as well as co-chair of the Coastal Caucus which she created in 2020.
