Mayor Woods has a deep commitment to serving Tempe. His professional background, including his current role as Executive Director of Community Relations at ASU Preparatory Academy has equipped him with the skills to address the diverse needs of Tempe. Having previously served as a Councilmember and now in his second term as Mayor, he is dedicated to advancing policies that enhance affordability, community safety, and social services.

Mayor Woods’ advocacy for attainable housing, as seen through the success of Tempe’s “Hometown for All” and strategic property repurposing, reflects his commitment to inclusive growth. Initiatives to combat homelessness and support domestic violence survivors underscore his dedication to the well-being of every Tempe resident. His vision centers on creating a vibrant, accessible, and culturally-rich city for everyone. Woods was named 2022 “Advocate of the Year” by the Arizona Housing Coalition for his advocacy work expanding affordable and workforce housing opportunities. He is Vice Chair of the United States Conference of Mayors’ Housing and Community Development Committee and Co-Chair of the National League of Cities’ Housing Supply Accelerator Steering Committee. He is also a member of the Mayors & CEOs for U.S. Housing Investment Coalition.
