Jeremy Nordquist was elected to represent District 7 in the Nebraska Legislature in 2008 and reelected in 2012. He served in the Legislature until 2015. Sen. Nordquist was the chairman of the Nebraska Retirement Systems Committee and was a member of the Appropriations Committee, State-Tribal Relations Committee and Children’s Behavioral Health Oversight Committee. In 2010, Sen. Nordquist was selected to serve as the chairman of the Health Committee for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). He also served as a member of the NCSL Executive Committee. Sen. Nordquist was recently named a “Rising Political Star” by MSNBC.
Sen. Nordquist was a leader in expanding opportunities in low-income neighborhoods by passing the Nebraska Job Creation and Mainstreet Revitalization Act, which established tax credits for restoring historic properties for the first time in Nebraska. He brought both sides together to strengthen and reform Nebraska’s public pensions for teachers, judges and state patrol offices. Sen. Nordquist also passed legislation in 2014 to give Nebraska consumers more information about the cost of health services.
