Mark Jeffreys

City Councilmember | Cincinnati, OH

Mark is a twice elected member of Cincinnati City Council, former P&G executive, and entrepreneur. Mark grew up poor and on food stamps. As the son of an immigrant, he started out cleaning toilets as a janitor and through a union job with the Laborer’s International Union was able to go on to college at the University of Chicago and then get his MBA from Georgetown University. Mark then spent 16 years with Procter & Gamble running businesses including Pampers and Gillette, and also living and working in Asia and Europe. He left seven years ago to start his own data analytics company and serve on non-profit boards including the non-profit he founded go Vibrant, which created a 4.5 acre portion of Smale Riverfront Park where there was once a dilapidated parking lot.

In 2021, Mark was elected one of nine City Councilmembers and re-elected in 2023. He is Chairman of the Equitable Growth & Housing Committee. Mark is focused on quality of life issues such as public safety and eliminating blight, as well as growth in housing and economic development. Some of his signature accomplishments have including Vacant Building and Complete Streets ordinances, saving bike share in Cincinnati, launching a Green Bank in Cincinnati, being the first large city in Ohio to legalize Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and putting forward a “Big Audacious Housing Goal” of building 40,000 units in 10 years. Mark lives in the Clifton neighborhood with his wife Pamela who is a pediatrician. They have 4 children three of whom are in college and one graduated from college. Mark and Pamela are members of Wise Temple and enjoy traveling as well as spending time out in Adams County, an Appalachian part of Ohio.
