Senator Michael Brooks is a proud resident of Southwest Oklahoma City. His family has called South OKC home for four generations.
Michael’s mother taught at Oklahoma City Community College, and his father worked for Oklahoma City Public Schools.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Led by his entrepreneurial spirit, he opened Michael Brooks-Jimenez, P.C., in South Oklahoma City twenty years ago. He currently serves as President of the Board of Santa Fe South Charter Schools.
He is a former Board Chair and current member of the Latino Community Development Agency Board of Directors. He was also named Board member of the year in 2006 by the LCDA. Other boards include the Alliance for Economic Development, Former Boards include Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and he is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City, and a member of the South Oklahoma City Chamber. Some of the Senator’s accomplishments include being a founding member and current chair of the Oklahoma Legislative Latino Caucus, authoring SB140 (2021), which expands eligibility requirements for the ODOC’s delayed sentencing program for young adults, and he is currently working to pass a Drivers License bill.
