Washington, D.C. – NewDEAL CEO Debbie Cox Bultan made the following statement on the April 13th attack on Governor Josh Shapiro and his family:

“The NewDEAL is deeply disturbed by the attacks on alumnus Governor Josh Shapiro’s residence following a Passover celebration this weekend, placing the lives of him and his family at grave risk. We’re relieved that the governor and his family are safe and applaud the first responders who acted quickly to help the Shapiro family.

We join with NewDEAL Leaders at all levels of government to condemn in the strongest possible terms attacks on elected officials. This incident is another unfortunate reminder of the threats that too many public officials have experienced and the urgent need for leaders across the political spectrum to come together to denounce violence.”
