Statement from CEO of NewDEAL Debbie Cox Bultan on turmoil caused by the Trump Administration’s operations in Minneapolis, including the second deadly ICE shooting
News Category: Media, Statements and Press Releases
“NewDEAL stands with Minnesotans who are speaking out in defense of their communities and American laws and values amid the turmoil caused by the Trump Administration’s operations in Minneapolis, including the second deadly ICE shooting.
We are grateful for the Minnesota NewDEALers who are demonstrating exceptional leadership at this challenging time, including Senator Grant Hauschild and House Caucus Leader Zack Stephenson’s warning about harmful federal overreach while calling for accountability and justice, Secretary of State Steve Simon’s firm protection of voter privacy and election integrity, and Mayor Kim Norton’s leadership in bringing local voices to Washington. They are making clear that fear, coercion, and unnecessary force have no place in their state.
NewDEAL believes that public safety, immigration enforcement, and democratic governance must be carried out with transparency, restraint, and respect for human dignity. Communities deserve partnership — not intimidation.
We support Minnesota’s leaders and citizens as they work to protect families, uphold the rule of law, and pursue peace, accountability, and trust at a moment when those values matter more than ever.”
