Since 2003, Mayor Dyer has delivered impressive results, from making Orlando one of the safest cities in Florida; to the development of industry clusters which are generating new, quality jobs for the City’s residents; to the revitalization of downtown Orlando and the creation of world class community venues; to reducing gridlock and expanding transportation options through the advancement of long-sought mass transit projects.

In 2011, he was selected as American City and County Magazine’s National Municipal Leader of the Year. The award highlights his work to diversify Central Florida’s economy, fight for the creation of a pair of high-profile rail projects, strengthen neighborhood safety, deliver more efficient government and help the residents of Orlando endure the national recession.

Among his many accomplishments, Mayor Dyer has spearheaded the creation of the “Medical City” cluster to put life sciences, healthcare and medical research companies and organizations together on one campus – and capitalize on the synergies created between these industry leaders; worked to expand education and opportunity to all residents through the Parramore Kidz Zone to provide after school activities, access to health care and social services to children and families in one of the City’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods; and helped local entrepreneurship diversify the city’s economy by waiving or reducing impact fees and making it easier for businesses to operate.
