Paula was elected to the Franklin County Board of Commissioners 2005 to 2017 where she served as Board President. Her commitment to careful financial planning, including a fiscal sustainability resolution and debt policy, allowed Franklin County to remain the only county in Ohio with a double AAA bond rating through the recession, allowing the county to invest responsibly in Franklin County while saving taxpayer dollars, and putting people to work. Paula also pursued simple energy efficiency measures like removing lighting from vending machines that serve to both save tax dollars the environment.
Paula Brooks held positions as Chair of the National Association of Counties’ International Economic Development Task force focused on increasing US exports. Paula also championed the NACo free prescription drug card for Franklin County, and it’s now saved residents over $2 million.
