Driskell Receives Rising Star Award from EMILYs List

This week, NewDEAL Leader Florida House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell was announced as the winner of EMILYs List’s 10th annual Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award, which celebrates an extraordinary woman serving in state or local office. In their announcement, EMILYs List highlighted Driskell’s staunch resistance to Florida Republicans efforts to roll back civil and reproductive rights, as well as her leadership on common sense gun reform, climate change and affordable housing as reasons for her selection. The group said, “EMILYs List is honored to award [Minority Leader Driskell] this year’s Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award because we know that as her future in public service unfolds, she will continue to lead with grace and determination, shining a light for future generations of inspiring women legislators to come." Driskell joins fellow NewDEALers Cook County, IL State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Stacey Abrams as recipients of this prestigious award.
