This week, 6 NewDEAL Mayors were announced as part of the 3rd class of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, through which 41 mayors from around the world will participate in a yearlong education program to develop municipal executive leadership. NewDEAL Mayors in this year's class are Kate Gallego (Phoenix, AZ), Leirion Gaylor Baird (Lincoln, NE), Eric Johnson (Dallas, TX), Rick Kriseman (St. Petersburg, FL), Lovely Warren (Rochester, NY), and Nan Whaley (Dayton, OH).
A number of NewDEALers were also announced as part of the Aspen Institute's 2019 class of Rodel Fellows, a program that brings together promising young political leaders to discuss underlying principles of democracy and responsibilities of public leadership while boosting a thoughtful and bipartisan dialogue. NewDEALers in this year's Rodel Fellows class are Mayor Steven Fulop (Jersey City, NJ), Mayor Kate Gallego (Phoenix, AZ), Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib (Washington), Sec. of State Alex Padilla (California), and Senate Minority Leader Jeff Yarbro (Nashville, TN).
