$2 Million in Funding to Continue to the “Grow Your Own” Program
EDUCATION - Michigan: Senator Kristen McDonald-Rivet secured $2 million in state funding to continue the Grow Your Own (GYO) Program, a partnership between Saginaw Valley State University and a neighboring school district to recruit more educators. The program has helped cut the district’s teacher vacancies in half and the new funding will extend the program for five more years. “We had many conversations as we were working through the budget, and being able to seed a program that allows for the fast tracking of teachers is indispensable for the district,” said McDonald-Rivet.
